HAHA! Just one of my loves. Old movies. Especially old horror movies. This is actually the 5th public domain movie I've put up. A lot of great movies that are actually free to the public. It's nice I can share them here. :-)

Thanks for posting. I am really interested about how this ended up in the Public Domain (PD). Under the DMCA, they could have renewed it, unless it was PD before the DMCA became law. Did they voluntary abandon the © on this Movie?

I don't know for certain. A lot of these films either weren't registered for copyright properly or weren't renewed. In this case this case the company behind the film, Allied Artists Pictures Corporation, broke away from Monogram Pictures in 1953 and put out a handful of noteworthy films, but mostly B films and exploitation films that were shot quickly to cash in on current trends. 1 of 2

The company eventually collapsed financially and filed for bankruptcy in 1979. I can only image that this film somehow fell between the cracks in that process. 2 of 2

Based on this info, they failed to reregister it when the DMCA came out and boom it became PD. Cool. It really is PD. Wow. Thanks for loading it. My brother and I were scarred out of our pajamas watching this as kids.
