America is the continent, although we choose to ignore Canada and Mexico as being part of it, except in the 1800s where we invaded both in an effort to unite all under our banner. I have friends who live in Bolivia. When they go to the nearest city, Santa Cruz, they generally go by airplane because it takes too long otherwise, what with the roads the way they are. I've never been there myself, but I've heard all about it, and it's nice to see an example!

gloriosokaiser, we say America because it's easier than saying United States of America, the full name. We are Americans because we live in the United States of America, and it's absurd to have to qualify our origin with "I am an American from the United States of America." No other people call themselves Americans, so there's no chance of misunderstanding. So why make a fuss?

I'm saying that you people name your country América; but that is not the name of your country. Certainly, U.S. are in North América, what im saying is the people from your country usually names America to the U.S., only because your country doesn't have a name, and the people in your country doesn't have any national identity; at least, canadian people respect the fact that they are part of América, but they are not América.
