I remember watching 'Cosmos' when I was a child in the 70's and how that music still gives me a chill, that feeling of Awe.

Listening to the actual speech by Carl is heart-wrenching to me. I really do believe this is one of the most inspirational and important speeches ever given.

I feel the same. This speech should be read every day to every government of all countries of this pale blue dot.

Beautiful.... I had never read Carl Segan's books before. Would you guys recommend them? I've been reading Richard Dawkins and other philosophy books (which are great) but it seems everyone somehow had read Carl Segan's except me! They must be good?

Hi Golfina, Sagan is one of the best science populist, and humanist, authors. Please read what you can of what he wrote, though my favourite is The Demon-Haunted World. If you can find the Cosmos television series, on videocassette or DVD, I would suggest, most strongly, that you view it. Kind Regards, NewSkeptic

I discovered Carl by randomly watching "Contact" one night at work "For Carl..." I had to find out who it was. I read "Cosmos" and it left me a changed person forever. I must get the DVDs. Just finished reading 'Dragons of Eden - "Speculations On The Evolution of Human Intelligence"' by Carl...another beautiful and inspiring read. Must get the whole collection. Look on Amazon and get reading :)

Dan good. It's not just Sagan's ideas, but his phrasing, his inflection, his intonations, his voice. The man was fortunate enough to be born with a voice that perfectly fit his message. Check out his other videos online here. Or check my very unusual Carl Sagan videos.

Mr. g0at: Where is this dot? I remain perplexed by that question. How could it not be created? It is what it is. Celebrate it. Quite cordially, GB
