Description: The alternative to the longstanding American food policy of "cheap and lots" is to eat locally, eat seasonally and eat organic. Filmmaker Bonnie Bucqueroux and her dog Schmoopsie look at the sustainable agriculture movement, including a visit to Michigan State University's Student Organic Farm, where Dr. John Biernbaum discusses the options people have to grow their own food or to buy from local growers. |

Mousse4200 ::: Favorites 2007-12-01 09:04:04 That's the most illogical crap I've ever heard. Do you even know what sustainable means? How could you be against something like that. Nutrition creates healthy people to do your jobs. I'm all for freedom of choice but you need to get educated. __________________________________________________
zegeeaudio ::: Favorites 2007-11-18 23:41:20 Great video! __________________________________________________

LatteLiberal ::: Favorites 2007-10-09 16:45:05 The other problem with this liberally biased video is Michigan is a BLUE state! Only when the unions are gone and the auto plants are shut down and moved to Mexico and China will Michigan go back to being a CHristian RED state. __________________________________________________
LatteLiberal ::: Favorites 2007-10-09 16:41:45 This is all liberal BS. I will not support your liberal agenda to hurt big business and Christian farmers. You want to kill the economy? Bariatric surgery creates jobs. What does "nutrition" create? NO jobs. THink about it. Vote NO to sustainability laws. Vote YES to freedom of choice and GOD. __________________________________________________
Tarodin1980 ::: Favorites 2007-09-28 15:03:44 I try to buy local/organic whenever I can. I live very well without fresh tomatoes and strawberries in the winter. That's what canned ones are for! __________________________________________________
psycobasschick ::: Favorites 2007-09-22 01:55:35 he loves fruits and veggies, which is great since he is a growing boy __________________________________________________
Karokapha ::: Favorites 2007-09-22 01:11:03 Your puppy eats peaches? Sounds like a neat dog. __________________________________________________
ncommons ::: Favorites 2007-09-15 17:00:03 Thank you! You too! __________________________________________________
ncommons ::: Favorites 2007-09-15 16:59:31 I don't think that is true though. I've been in the woods many times, and there are always ruins/stone walls. A good amount of the forests definitely were farms. Some of the farms did become suburbs though, definitely. __________________________________________________
psycobasschick ::: Favorites 2007-09-15 15:08:35 one of the things i get the most excited abt in the summer is being able to go to a local produce market and get all kinds of amazing fruits and veggies...my puppy even does as well b/c it means fresh peaches and tomatoes for him __________________________________________________
communitywork ::: Favorites 2007-09-15 14:35:34 A few minutes ago, I was chatting with a friend from the Portland Housing Authority about this forest vs. local food argument. I think he said when farming became unattractive, at least in Maine, the farms were sold and converted into suburbs and sprawls, not necessarily reforested. I guess I need more comprehensive numbers crunching before I make my conclusion. Take care and have a good day! __________________________________________________
linguy22 ::: Favorites 2007-09-15 10:24:34 I wesh to bring your attention to DENNIS KUCINICH (D-Ohio), running for president. Voting for Dennis Kucinich will be helpful to farmers and to all of us. He is vegan and he wants to eliminate NAFTA. Let's vote him in. Inform your members. __________________________________________________ |
